organization question

A fundamentally functional organization creates a special project team to handle a critical project. This team has many of the characteristics of a project team in a project organization and has a project manager dedicated to the project. Such an organization would be called:

  1. A projectized organization

  2. A functional organization.

  3. A strong matrix organization

  4. A composite organization

Answer is composite....can anyone explain...

In a functional organisation,  PM got vrtually no power. In the above case there is a DEDICATED PM and the team got many characteristics of a Project Organisation and is special one.

Is it not a co-existence of a Project Organisation and Functional Orgn at the same table ??, thus making a composite one.

Just think.

Definitely not a project orhanziation since it mentions it has many characteristics of project org and still will be controlled by functional managers so it should be a composite Organization

Refere to PMBOK 4th edition page 32. It aslo says the Composite Organization.
