What would be the correct choice to the question below?

You have just been assigned as project manager for a large manufacturing project.. This one-year project is about halfway done.It involves five different sellers and 20 members of your company are on the project team. You want to quickly review where the project now stands. Which of the following reports would be the MOST helpful in finding such information?

A: work status

B: Progress

C: Forecast

D: Communications

Referring to the definitions below, i understand "STATUS REPORT" is brief for quick, sap, reporting

A] Status communicates the state of the project at current time.

   - It stresses on Achievements

   - It is brief (when compared to Progress Report) 

  - It is used to communicate status to higher management

   Eg: Milestone Chart

B] Progress Report communicates what happened since last report

    - It is used to communicate with Team to report project progress

    - it is more detailed and longer with start and end dates and tasks details

   -  It emphasis on Events

  Eg: Gannt Chart (Bar chart)

I will catch the below line in the question "you want to quickly review where the project now stands". And as per that I will choose the Work Status as the current answer to get the correct status for that point of time.

its almost 4weeks no reply.. The answer given isB(Progress report); hwever, i went for A.

kindly explain if u feel the official response should have benn otherwise or if u think am correct.

 STATUS REORT:

is the report having detail at a point of time. It will only figure out the present status, and unable to compare or analysis any thing. It is like a data. It is definitely quite important , when in support you have some relevant information in back ground.

PROGRESS REPORT:

is a report having detail at a stretch of a time duration. it gives one end (start) to next end data , by this you are able to analyse and compare the trend of project progress and can forecost EVM DATA. it can be said it involves status report also if it is current.

 

Question is asking you want to review quickly, where the project now stands. Definately status report (current data) will be helpful. Later it can be analysed with data available in background.

option A is valid.
