PMP Application process for project hours ( 4500)
Submitted by abprat on Sun, 05/10/2009 - 14:24
I completed my application process for PMP credential. I worked on a large project for 2 and half years and I entered my hours for that project as a SINGLE project ( which had phases) . However, the hours were quite large for planing process ( 1400 for planning and 1600 for control and monitoring) .
Did anyone else run into the same issue ? Is it advisable to break the big project into phases and list each phase as seperate project. Will this cause problems with application processing ?
Any advice is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You no need to worry about it. One of my friends has the similar situation, he got the credential qualification. Now he is a PMP.

Thanks
Thanks Chowdary ,
This helps . I put down only 2 projects on my application. The first one was for 2 1/2 years and the other project ran for a year. So I managed to put more hours than the 4500 that PMI is asking for. My numbers for hours look huge since the project was enterprise level and ran for more than 2 years..Anyways..keeping my fingerscrossed and hoping PMI will apporve and not come back with questions or audit.

In this Forum itself, if
In this Forum itself, if you type ' Template' and click Search you get a link to a spreadsheet : http://rapidshare.com/files/293214204/Sample_PMP_Application_RCut2.xls
Populate the spread sheet with your projects and the corresponding hours you spent in each process area of the projects you worked on. I did not try but that is a source available to get you going.

This article is quite old now
This article is quite old now so I think that you have already found the decision to this problem. I had the same problem few weeks ago, however I have found the issue on this one. It is really possible to break the project in few separate phases and then everything will be all right. However as I sad I think that you have already done it by yourself. Thanks for keeping that blog alive by the way. It is really interesting to read some articles based on your own experience. So I will be definitely waiting for more nice articles from you in the nearest future too.
