I Passed the PMP 2 Nov 11

As soon as I saw Congratulation you passed on the screen I threw my arms up in celebration and tried not to be loud.

After taking a few deep breaths, I soaked up the feeling of reaching such a tremendous goal, on the First Attempt. Not to boast but I am extremely proud of myself.

I started preparing for the PMP exam in September, so it took about 2 months of studying. I studied 5 days a week and took the weekends off. "Like a job!"

Here is how I passed it:

Pmzilla – No surprise – and Rajesh Nair’s notes,  I got lots of useful  information to start me on my journey. Again Thanks.

Read the PMBok 4th Edt.- 4 times and reviewed pieces of it every day. ITTOs and Flow Charts

Read the PMP Project Management Professional Exam by Kim Heldman Twice, Very good book and not expensive. Also comes with a CD-rom, Good for study questions and flash cards.

I also used the PMP Exam Simulator website and took all 8 practice Exams.  Very helpful and I think what lead to me actually passing the test. After every exam REVIEW what you got right and wrong.

The PMP Exam: Was not as hard as I thought it would be. If you follow my lead it will not be as intimidating as you are lead to believe. It took me 3 hrs and I made sure I read every question and answer thoroughly. Very Important.

For me the most important things to key on are

  1.  learning the vocabulary
  2. The process groups
  3. What the processes are doing in each group
  4. How each process uses the T&Ts to get the output of that process.

I didn’t memorize the all ITTO’s but I did memorize the outputs.

Good luck to anyone who is on the journey, I hope this helps you.

Congratulations Wilson on your PMP and glad to know that pmzilla was helpful.

Regards

Congratulations!.  Did you find any specific difference in the new exam pattern.  How about Rita's.  Which version is good for the new exam pattern.

Thanks,

SampathNatarajan

I never used anything from Rita. Her book was just to expensive for my taste. However I have heard good things about her books. As for the exam pattern, this was the first time I ever attempted the PMI exam so I can not give you an answer.

Hi Wilson,

First of all congratulations for your PMP.

In your message you mentionned the PMP Exam Simulator. Could you give me the Internet address ? Is it this one ?  http://www.pm-exam-simulator.com/

Thanx in advance.

Antonio
