I Passed PMP exam! Sharing my experience.
I passed my PMP exam! It was a great feeling to see the word “CONRATULATIONS”, not to forget the 20-30 seconds delay in waiting for the result, looking at the blank screen. It was the result of four months hard word.
Following were my study materials
- Simplilearn Online course
- Attended almost all their online trainings
- Read Rita’s 6th edition once
- Read Rita’s 7th edition twice
- PMBOK had a glance
- Attempted as many as 3000 test questions, fastrack, Simplilearn, PMZilla, oliverlehmann, and many more. Simplilearn new questions are very close to exam ( I have tried both old and new)
My Observations
- Inputs from various PMZilla froum members were of great help
- Worth spending time over here @ PMZilla
- August 31 change, should not impact the study materials what one has
- I used to complete 200 questions simulation tests at an average of 2hrs, but in exam I took 3.5 hrs
- Taking up multiple mock tests helped especially the wordy ones
- Practicing to sit for 4 hrs and concentrate , helped in the exam
- Having a glance at PMBOK summary and glossary a day before the exam, was handy
- Understanding and remembering the process chart is of great value
Given another chance, this what I would do
- Better focus on studying Risk Management
- Focus more on ITTOS
- Not spend too much time on problems and formulas
- Stick to one study material along with PMBOK
- Not change the study material because of the change, as PMBOK is same
If any PMP aspirants have a query, I would be glad to share my lessons learned!

congratulations, i could immagine is a great filling once this note appears on the terminal.
Tell me pls, i discover that rita itto chart is MUCH more detailled than the one in the pmbok on page 43. Which of both is more relevant for the exam. The high-level or detailled one?

Process chart PMBOK or Rita's!
Thanks Peitro! In my opinion, if one wants to answer what next or in which process group type of questions PMBOK page 43 is perfect. In this case, one has to ensure that more attention paid in learning (understanding) ITTOs. If one wants to answer all the types discussed above, in one time learning (understanding) Rita's process chart is the best.
I followed Rita's. How it helped me, first 15 minutes I wrote Rita's process chart in the scrap paper, along with formulas. So psychologically I was comfortable that the process chart, most of important ITTOS and formulas are there in front of me, so if such question arises, I need not panic.
And yes it will help you. Ensure that along with memorizing (if you can), it is better you spend time on understanding too. This helps you in answering tricky wordy questions. I used to practice writing the process chart whenever I had a break time at work, at home, and without fail, first thing in the morning. No doubt it was tiring and but it is worth to do.
