Passed PMP Exam 9 Jan 2016
I passed my PMP exam on Jan 9. Got 5 MP.
Started preparing 3 weeks ago. I think if you have a little bit of project management experience and understanding the basic terms and processes, 3 weeks should be fine but anyone with no PM experience should atleast give 1.5 - 2 months to get a hang of it. So I did the following things in my 3 weeks of preparation
- Started with Rita, read it twice and once just skimming the main concepts. Make sure you go through all the concepts and terms/definitions before going to the exam it helped me a lot. The main points can be found on the first page of every chapter. Did practice exam questions after reading through the book twice.
- Read PMBOK once. To be honest didnt even read through the complete thing. IMO Rita is good enough to pass the exam. However do consult to PMBOK for understanding the flow of the processes. That really helps.
- After the first 2 steps, which took around 1.5 weeks, I started doing exams which were Rita Fast Track, almost all free exams on PM websites which could be found on this forum as well, PM zilla exam. I was around 60-65% on all exams except few where I was 75% but I was really scared because of the score I was getting consistently. However, the exam was much easier than the exams.
- I printed out Vargas process chart which was really helpful. I recommend everyone print one out and make sure you go through it almost everyday.
In the end I got 5 MP's. To be honest even within these 3 weeks I didnt study much. I would say I studied for about 3 hours every day if I were to average it out.
Cheers and good luck to all
