Passed PMP, 14-MAR-2011

I was a silent observer of these forums till today. This forum really helped me understanding the study process for PMP and passes the exam.

Study Material

-PMBOK4 (2 readings) (without glossary, should have read it, any ways I passed  )

-RITA (2 readings) (with questions at the end of chapter they really help)

-Ethics chapter I only read from RITA, should have covered it also from PMP handbook

 TIME

 - 1.5 to 2.0 hours per day for approximatly 2.5 months (couldn’t give more time becoz of job)

Practise exams-Free (in the last 15 days just before paper schedule date)

 Headfast                     73%

PMSTUDY1               68%

Simplearn                    62.8%

Examcentral               75%

Oliver 175                   65%

Pmzilla 25 tough         58%

I was very much worried because of my low test scores but I decided not to extand the date.

 Line of action

Memorized pg : 43 from PMBOK and formula page from RITA to write on scrap paper on exam day. Didn’t learn ITTOs but only understood them, there is no need to Learn ITTOs by heart. Do go through the wrong answers from practise exams and read those related topics once more. In my experience if you are doing around 67% to 70% in Practise exams then you are good to go.

 Result :

 3 proficient, 3

 moderately proficient

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS

Tomorrow is my D day, could you please give me some advices, I had similar average in those free tests.

What about code of etichs? Math? were many questions?

QA, RISK and Procurement ? how many questions? were tough?

From your perspectiva the overall exam was tough or easy?

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your PMP. Thanks for the systematic writeup.

Can you also share what was your background , in terms of number of years of PM experience ?

thanks for the good comments.

All areas are equally divided in the exam, from integ. management to proc. management. they have designed the paper to cover all knowledge areas. calculations are also balanced, but not that hard, if you pay attention closely you will understand what they are exactly asking to do and you will do it easily.

I have 5 years for PM experience in dealing with Telecom Projects along with technical experience as well since I am an electronics engineer.
