I passed the PMP exam yesterday
I am extremely delighted to share that I passed the PMP exam yesterday with 2 P and 3 MP. PmZilla is extremely good forum and the lesson learnt here are useful for the best PMP exam passing tips. I did read here lots of LL and made my plan which worked out for me. As a give back to this forum, I would like to share my preparations as well.
I completed the contact hours from my company which happened in April 2015. I started reading Headfirst and then went to Rita books. Both books gave me lots of knowledge about project management and PMP tips. It was Pmzilla which helped me to know how important PMBOK is and then around 2 months before I started reading it. When I started reading PMBOK it sounded extremely boring, but eventually when I got used to its tone and sentences, I started liking it. Today, I can say with confidence, PMBOK is the best book for the PMP exam and it’s the major key to success.
Now, the next debatable question comes for Mock tests, which one to try and which to not. Honestly, its individual choice whether one should go for Paid tests or not, since it has cost. Also, there are lot of free mock tests available across and if you Google them and attempt, you can easily get 1500 questions. I attempted most of the free tests which I could find and not limited to: PMStudy, PMZest, Christopher Scordo, Oliver's 75, Oliver's 175, ExamCentral, 101 Scribd Formula Questions, iZenBridge, PMZilla, Kim Heldman, TechFAQ360, Head First's 200 PMP Exam etc. My score was around 60-73% in these. Just 7 days before the exam, my confidence started losing up and I started going into nervousness mode. After lots of thinking, I purchased PMZest tests and attempted just 6 from them. I was able to secure around 65% percentage with passing verdict and this increased my confidence.
This is my LL and there are lot more to add, but would make this journey boring. I would advise you all to practice good questions and read PMBOK. This exam is not that complex to pass, but you need right strategy and plan in place. I wish everyone here all the very best.
