Strategy for study

Guys I need help..

As i have already read 4 books(PMBOK,RITA,HEADFISRT,ANDY CROW) Andy crow is in process rest of them twice..but when I am givin exam at the end of the chapter(Andy crow) I am scoring agin as 15/25,16/25,21/25...

I have just finished the chapter stakeholder managment and now will be studing how to pass PMP exam(chapter 14-Andy crow) but after giving exams fro Andy crow my nervous level has gone 60% up because i m scoring horribly bad..I have plan to schedule my exam on 21-July about 2 months left..

Can anyone suggest a strategy?Everyone is saying keep digging deeper..what exactly it means as we are giving the test and finding answers wrong should immediately refer and consult PMBOK or should check and review the answers for the whole test and review the answers and then refer PMBOK.

Find your knowledge gap..how:-( Just writing which were the answers wrong?should we make a note for those or how?

Please suggest something guys:-( Its demotivating me like crazy..and started planting the seed that should postpone the exam:-(

Help highly appreciated.

Thanks

Nisha..

Hi Nisha,

If you are scoring less than 80% believe me you are not ready for the exam.

But no need to worry 2 months are more than enough. What I suggest is note down your weak areas and try to clear your concepts of those chapters. Think like a project manager of a large team and try to answer the question. At times we select the option based on our personal experience, what we see in our organization. But companies are not bound to follow these practices so whatever is practised by our oraganization may not be the best practise.

One more suggestion in your last 2 weeks, don't read anything new, just focus on test test and test, as many as you can. (ensure the quality of tests chosen by you is really good)

If you want I can share links for real good mock tests.

All the best !!

Jyoti

Hi Jyoti..

I appreciate your feedback..At this time i really need good advice and moral support..

Thank you very much for providing the both:-)

I would be really grateful if you can share the mock tests..which can help me to idenitify my gaps..

Thanks a lot for the help.

Nisha..

Hi Nisha,

Hope you remember me. I am closely watching your posts and I see you are preparing well. Don't panic with the results. It just highlights your gap. Kindly stick to PMBOK5 and only one PMP Prep book(RITA, KIMHELDMANN,ANDY CROWE, Sean Whitaker or Headfirst). Since you are attending boot camp your knowledge/scores are set to improve.

I am also planning for PMP exam in mid of june. I have reached cost management now.( I am not concentrating more on PMBOK or any other prep book). I mostly watch PM PREPCAST videos for each chapter twice and read PMBOK once and glance sean whittaker PMP book. Initially my scores start from 40% and reached 75%

I also refer google for confusing topics like effort/duration, resource leveling/smoothing, contingency/management reserve etc. I am getting very good explanation.

I am confident that I will give my exams in june 2015. I am not at all worried about scores with the mock questions. they are very helpful to identify areas of improvement.

I advise you to keep it simple. stick only to 2 books and concentrate on more quality mock tests. I have been visiting pmzilla from 2012 and read loads of lessons learnt. I see your preparations are excellent and defnitely you will clear on first attempt.

all the best for your preparations. Practice makes your perfect.

Hey Thanks..a lot..I owe this a lot to PMZILLA..as this has been an exellent medium for me to help and get through in my bad patches of prepartion..

Sure..As per your advice i will stick to PMBOK and Rita(Although i love Headfirst but still guess Rita will be the wise decision). Some of the other guys have suggested me here some extremely nice sites for mock test..and I have decided to go through them as well.

Thanks for your kind words..I am sure will get through this..and I will be also able to help others PMP participants..

I would like to say in short - you need more practice and your scores will improve in coming weeks as you are focussed and studing.
