Passed PMP Today

Tough one.

Studied for about 3 months, Rita, and Oliver. Read PMBOK once.

Took tonnes of mock exams. None of them were very close actual exam questions.

I did not memorize any process maps, but did memorize all EV and needed them, lots of scenario based.

Be able to understand what they are asking and what process they are in. Understanding is so much more important than memorizing.

I only had 10 minutes to review.

2 MP, 2 BP and one proficient.

Tough but fair.

I was averaging between 65 and 75 on my mocks.

Good luck to all.

Congrats, could you please share your details mock test scores and which tests you did ?

Please eloborate what you did not find in the mock tests when compared.

What I meant by this was although both Rita and Oliver were good practice, you shouldn't expect to see questions from these on the exam. If you understand what they are asking however, you can relate them to exam questions. In my mind there is really no substitute for knowing your stuff. The exam is meant to test how well you know and understand, and if you know your stuff the exam is tough but fair.

My mock scores were between 65 and 75, but I used the mocks as study aids. When reviewing my answers, I would always try and understand why I got them right or wrong then make a list if I needed more practice or follow up. I always reviewed right and wrong answers.

I purchased Rita's exam simulator and her prep book, those were my primary materials. I read her book twice and did every question at the end of each chapter. On my first pass through, I would read the PMBOK chapter, then read the same chapter from Rita. My second pass of reading was Rita only and questions at the end of each chapter.

What I tried to do was answer each question before looking at the 4 choices of answers, that told me I understood what they were asking and not simply memorizing the right answer.

I also used Oliver Lehman 75 and 175 questions and approached those the same way. What I did find was attempting mock exams from too many sources started to confuse me.

The day before my exam, I did some review, but tried to relax, trying to cram at that point wasn't a good ia in my mind.

I purchased the Pmzilla questions but didn't use them very much.

You mentioned Rita, and Oliver. By Oliver I assume you mean Oliver Lehmann and his 75 and 175 practice Q's? Or does he have a book or study guide that I am not familiar with? How many times do you read through Rita? Also as others mentioned, what mock exams did you utilize? Conrgats and thanks for any advice to those of us still preparing!

Great try, congratulations! You definitely have done great job there. - Dennis Wong YOR Health
