Passed PMP exam first attempt -exam experiences

Dear Friends,

I would like to share with you my experience about pmp exam.

It all started in year 2013, when I took PMI Mumbai chapter training organized by my company for 35 contact hours. At this time  I was handling a big MNC project - construction costing over 400million USD.

Since then, there was an urge to write the Pmp exam. But I found no time practically in hectic life style jobs until recently. Last 4 months , I have been sitting at home looking for new career opportunity. So I went back and opened the books.  At my age of 40, I had to  be really motivated to read though I have a strong academic background.

My study plan was like

Feb 2015, Rita (first detail study - made some notes while reading)

Feb 2015, PMbok 5th edi - first detail study.

March 2015 - until mid -  Rita (second fast skimming study)

March 2015 -  mid - end- online free practise  questions and some questions from my old Mumbai PMI chapter books.

April 2015/ 06 exam passed.

The first 2 hours of the exam went very slow for me. I can attribute this to my slow understanding of English language. I consumed 2hr and 30mins to complete 100 questions.

Lots of situational questions and cpm, evm calculation questions upto question number  150.

In the last 30mins I had 50 over questions left.  I felt some of the questions were easy from Q150 onwards.

Unfortunately, I had 10mins mins left had 20 questions still left. Managed to reach the 191 Questions with some random guessing and the exam - splashed a message - timed out....

After crunching my choices , the comp screen flashed Congratulatory message - and it was

init - bp

pl - mp

ex -mp

mc - p

cl - mp

Please take some full length exam - 200 questions are practise before going to test. I made a mistake of not  taking full length  tests and was slow in the first half of the exam.

Test was not all that easy,  but  working on some projects at your org. should be enough to understand  the concepts.

First of all many congrats,

You said there was 150 questions for CPM and EVM ? thats lot....you sure about that?

Hi,

In general lot of CPM, EVM related questions and upto question number 150 it was very  much evident.

@vijkrish33,

what was your mock result for each exam

Thats the problem I faced. I did not do a complete mock of 4 hours 200Questions.

Hence  I could not finish all the questions in time on the exam day.

In small mocks that I practised, I was getting answers in the range 70-75% correctly in mock tests.

Please take complete 200 questions in4hours before you take the exam.
