Tricky questions discussion.

You are working on a critical project for a large enterprise. The project has a major milestone delivery next week and is in the final testing phase. The project team is working on two critical showstopper bugs which are integral components of the deliverables. One of the senior members of the project has submitted his resignation and an outsourced component which is also scheduled for delivery next week may be delayed. Additionally, the current performance indices are: CPI 1.09 and SPI is 1.90. What is the MOST critical issue faced by the project?

  • Cost and Schedule

  • Delay in third party component

  • Resource Movement

  • Testing defects

.....Although I selected option C (Resource Movement) the correct answer given is D (Testing Defects) as the most critical issue. Can anybody explain the option............

The answer is almost given in the question, when it says 2 critical showstopper bugs. Clearly showstopper means highest priority than anything else.

A project is delivered as per the contract by the project team however the customer is not happy. The customer feels that the deliverable is far below his expectation in terms of quality and functionality and has some serious defects. What should the project manager do in this situation?

  • Talk to the project sponsor to discuss the issue

  • Proceed to project closure activity

  • Discuss the issues with customer and find ways to resolve the same

  • Brainstorm with technical experts, stakeholders and team members to understand issues in the project.

I selected answer C but the answer is actually B. Can somebody comment on this?

Yes, the question says that the delivery was done as per contract, if customer was happy or not it dosent matter. As long as you have delivered as per terms and conditions in contract, you should proceed with contract closure activities
