Hi all,
I cleared my PMP after 3rd try on 1st October (last date before my membership expired). I was very frustrated and discouraged after failing twice. Indeed my second try I had detached retina surgery two weeks before exam day and wasn't fully recovered.

My experience and lessons learned…

I was under pressure and very stressed after spending the whole month of September studying 6-8 hours/day and working full time. I reviewed over 2000 questions prior exam day, read the PMBOK twice, Rita and Kim Heldman once each. Since I’d been studying for almost a year, the basis of my study was Rita’s book and Fast Track questions. I also subscribed to PM Study and Cornelius Fitchtner – questions and quizzes only and purchased PMZilla 200 toughest questions booklet.

Exam D-Day: I had a good night of sleep; woke up early and went to exam centre. I checked in and waited a few minutes until a Prometric employee called me. Started the exam… on question 24 the fire alarm went off. That’s all I needed to get even more stressed – I thought this is it, I will fail again. We had to evacuate the building and waited outside for almost 40 minutes. Of course Prometric personnel stopped the exams of everybody. I didn’t miss a minute and/or question.

Those 40 minutes waiting outside really helped me to relax… When I went back it seemed that all process, ITTOs and concepts were clear in my mind. I cracked through the questions in about 3 hrs and 40 minutes and had time to review marked questions. The end of the story… Congratulations! You passed the PMP.

If I remember well I got about 12-15 EVM questions related and lots of ITTOs questions.

My recommendation for those PMP aspirants…

Practice, practice and practice as many questions as you can. Study each incorrect question carefully. Get to know and understand ITTOs inside/out.

Kind regards,
