PMP Certified 1/10/2011
Hi All,
Finally I took the PMP exam today after aspiring it for past two years. I even prepared partially for PMBOK third edition earlier. Not that I am old but I do have to accept that I now need to read a single lengthy sentence atleast twice. So considering such limitations it took me solid three months starting Oct to take up the exam today.
I would like to share my experience. The first step according to me is give a reading of PMBOK first and RITA and the enroll for the exam atleast two months earlier. Unless you enroll you would not bother to go ahead with subsequent readings.Initial reading of PMBOK might not make sense but I bet Fourth edition is exponentially better than Third edition. Complete PMBOK and RITA atleast twice and keep taking the RITA FastTrack tests after every chapter, they are tough and complex but they will prepare you for the worst. Start taking as many test as possible like PMSTUDY and EXAMCENTRAL.net only for the comprehensive test to assess yourself for the real exam. They are very similar to the questions you get on the real exam. DO NOT IGNORE ITTO and you don't have to memorize them as well. Have a overall picture of which Input or T&T or Ouput comes under which process and what do they mean. One good site for refreshing ITTOs mentioned in PMZILLA was http://www.monkibo.com/pmp-exam-itto-trainer/index.html. PMP Comprehensive Notes - Chowdary.xls also was a good refresher.
Also it would be better to form a study group to uncover the knowlege gaps you have. I wish all the aspirants good luck.
Below are my scores
----------------------------------------------------------------
Intiating - Proficient
Planning - Moderate Proficient
Executing -Moderate Proficient
Monitoring - Proficient
Closing- Moderatey Proficient
Social Responsibility - Below Proficient

Congrats !!
Enjoy this moment and thanks for sharing your journey.
I need some guidance here, I am also preparing for this exam, I have gone through once through PMBOK and the problem i see is remembering ITTO. How do i do that? Just memorize it or do we have some other nice way to remember those. I plan to go though atleast one more time through PMBOK.

Thanks!
As I earlier said, we don't have to memorize ITTOs. There are few tips like if you could logically visualize the the entire process starting from Project Charter to closure step by step, you can make out most of the T&Ts like in procurements, Plan procurements would deal with decisions related to Make or buy, type of contracts, then in Conduct procurements its the way you search and select sellers, then in Administer procurements you try to ensure things are going according to the contract through inspectione etc and finally in Close procurements you capture lessons learnt in records management system, Change requests would be the output and Work Performance information would be the Inputs for most of the M&C processes, there are no OPA and EEFs for Risk response planning and Monitor and Control Risks processes, Validated deliverables will be input only for Verify scope, types of Audits, Quality Audit occurs in exceution phase where as Risk Audit in M&C and Procurement Audit in Closing phase. Apart from reading if you can discuss in a group there are high chances you would remember them. I guess mine are unconventional methods of remembering but it helped me a lot.
One other important thing to remember is understand all the T&Ts from PMBOK as their definitions can directly come in the real exam.
