Depends on case to case basis. PDUs may be just one reason. Generally people in Teaching profession want to take most certifications so they can teach others. After PMP , Prince2 is a good option if you have UK or Europe clients.
ITIL should be done only if its needed for your job, else its waste of time in my opinion.
