Pass PMP in 1 month

Hiya,

I am a new member in Pmzilla. M/38 yr old, wife, 2-yr old son living happily each day.

I am preparing for pmp for over 2 months now. So far, read thoroughly Rita Mulcahy`s PMP Exam Prep (8th edition), took all practice tests in the same book and read PMBOK5 once. I have signed up for PMP on April 13th. Besides my wife and 2-yr old son, I have exactly 1 month free to prepare for PMP exam. How should I utilize this 1 month so I can pass PMP on April 13th?

I had taken PMP 6 months ago although did not pass, was too exhausted and unprepared then. So this time I have taken a month off from work so I dont have any excuses this time.  :)

Ciao,

PD

Hi,

PMI plays divide and rule game with us by splitting the 5 processes into 10 KA. I am saying this because the exam results are provided based on process groups, so why not study according to process groups. Considering the amount of time you are having, you can spend 1 week max on reading one process group/day and try giving Process group wise exam from Rita's Fast Track Application. Post that give 4mock exams atleast. PMstudy would be the recommended one. Analyze your results and try to close the gaps. On the last week of exam, refer PMBOK one more time to get a strong hold on PMBOK specific terms, including glossary. Each KA has some imp topics on which questions are default asked in the exam like Network Diagram, EVM, Comm. channels, 7 quality tools, conflict mgmt techniques, EMV etc. so practice them nicely.

This is just a suggestion I am providing, you can customize your approach based on other replies as well.

Me too planning to again(Yes!! second attempt) give the exam in the month of April. Best of Luck for your exam. Remember PMP is not just about preparation but also about Application soprepare yourself for the D-Day wherein your Body and Mind will be 100% prepared for the PMP Battle !!

Also this is not the end of world !! so don't be too emotional towards this exam.

@admin, @jerry, Thank you very much for your comments and links. Agree, it wont be end of the world if I fail this time, there is always room for improvement. @jerry, wish you good luck on your attempt. I hope we both pass same time. :)

Also whenever you feel demotivated watch some inspirational videos from youtube. Keep pushing yourself and keep saying this in your mind "Yes, you can do it PD". :-) Make sure you know where you stand by 4th of April, I mean attempt atleast 3 full mock exams (out of 3, attempt atleast one PMstudy full exam). This will give you a fair enough of idea on which are the pending items which you need to focus more on. Some more research from my side: There are 3 ways by which exam questions can be differentiated. Analyze which are your strong areas & work on the weaker ones.

1) Analystical questions.

2) Straight foward questions. (Questions which will be asked on PMP Terms )

3) Formulas, Network diagrams and Tools and Techniques.
