Passed PMP on 3rd Feb 2014 - Some LL
I just want to thank PMZILLA and all the forum members for their valuable contributiony for this forum.
I passed PMP yesterday. All credit goes to my study preparation, PMzilla forums and support of my wife and family. I have a 3 years old son. My wife spent most of her time taking care of him so that I can concentrate at least 2-3 hours everyday for my study.
I want to contribute some lesson learned.
1. First create a schedule for your study and set a target. DO NOT read many books. It took me around 3 months of preparation and I read PM PREPCAST audio/Video lessons, Rita's 8th edition book and PMBOK. There are several books available. Better choice would be one set of training material, PMBOK and another book.
2. Practice, Practice and practice mock tests.
I took around 9 mock tests. But I feel the real exam is closer to mock test from PM PREPCAST and PMSTUDY.
3. When you are reading the material/book, Read for the same topic. That really helps. This is what I couldn't do...Lesson learnt for me.
For example, If you are reading 'Plan risk management', First read from the training material, then read the same topic from PMBOK and again read it from Rita (e.g). This might be little boring, but this is a better way of capturing things easily.
4. Take printout of all the ITTO diagrams, put it on the wall(near to where you study), read it 2-3 times a week, that way you don't put pressure memorizing it, but eventually you will feel, you remember most of it. DO NOT spend a lot of time for completely memorizing everything. This is waste of time. Yesterday I took the test; I would say there are less than 10 percent of the questions directly asking for ITTO. So understand the concept, you can apply your understanding to pick the right answer. PM PREPCAST is one of the best sources for getting to know each ITTO.
That's all for now. Please email me at jrp_sap@yahoo.co.in if you need more guidance or information.
Regards,
Jyoti Ranjan
