Submitted by smat on Thu, 01/30/2014 - 06:08
Hello Forum Members,
Kindly suggest me few good books for PMP exam preparation. I am already using PMBOK 5...just need few more books for better understanding of the concepts.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards

I would suggest Rita anytime.
I would suggest Rita anytime. It's based on PMBOK and the writing style, explanation and examples make it easy to understand the processes and flow. I heard that Andy Crowe is also good but I only used Rita and PMBOK and practices to pass my exam. As mentioned by Rita, don't used too many books as they may confuse you. Just my 2 cents. All the best!

Thanks for the valuable inputs admin and swy. I am actually just starting with my PMP exam preparations...was a bit confused which books to choose.
Also, shall i start off with PMP practice questions right from the starting phase or should that take place after a while?

Though Rita Mulcahy and
Though Rita Mulcahy and HeadFirst are the best ones to go ahead, there are many other book you may like to refer. For instance PMP Exam Study Guide by Kim Heldman, The PMP Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try By Andy Crowe, and many others alike. I would suggest you to visit below link where you'll get a comprehensive list of various books that PMP aspirants usually refer during exam preparation: http://bit.ly/1kbYynt
The editions of the books mentioned in the blog might have updated, but the books mentioned therein are anytime worth referring. You can also check for the updated editions of the books on google.
Hope this helps..
Good luck :)

Books apart from PMBOK
Apart form PMBOK 5 , the Kim Heldman book is very helpful. Also i downloaded from somewhere a book called Project Management Tool Kit which i felt to be an abridged version of the PMBOK. Very crisp and clear contents which would take long time to go through in PMBOK.
