PMP test coming up

I have found this forum useful and wanted to share my study process and test results to date.

Study:

Focused on Rita, read the book 2x.  Read the PMBOK as needed based on missed questions in practice exams.  Seem to be weak in Comms and HR so I plan to read those chapters prior to the test or re-read Rita's chapters on the knowlege areas.  Beyond that I used Rita and some internet resources here and there on missed exam questions.   Spent a good bit of time researching missed questions, think I got through most of the PMBOK :)

Mock Test Results:

Rita end of chapter tests in the 70's on my first read and 85+ on the second read

Scordo - started Scordo tests after reading and completing Rita book and tests for the second time

Completed Tests 1-9 and 13 with an average of 81% max on test 5 - 88% and min on 13 - 74%

Oliver 75Q = 75% but went over the allocated time :(

PM Exam Simulator free tests (post Scordo and Oliver) 65%, 57%, 83% -- not sure why I scored relatively poorly but there were only 30 or so questions per exam

PmStudy - 77%  - free 200Q test

My last few days before the test I will focus on missed questions plus the HR and Comms chapter.

Think I am in a position to pass but just need to tie up some loose ends.  In any event I will report on the results.

Any thoughts, am I in a good position to pass ?

All the best for your exam and wish me as well for the exam that is on Friday, this week..Even am getting similar scores..I think we are in good shape..

Thanks and good luck to you.  I am also scheduled for Friday.  I am cautiously optimistic, between work and family I will hopefully close up the key gaps I have identified before Friday.

Your preparation and scores seems adequate. Keep skimming through the notes, like Rajesh Nair etc and also if you have time take some more mock tests http://pmzilla.com/free-pmp-exam-important-links-best

If you have 2-3 days I would recommend you buy PMZIlla 200 questions, that will prepare you really well in final days. , you may not score more than 50- 60% but it will help fill important knowledge gaps.

Thanks. Today I cleared PMP exam..Appreciate and this forum has been a vital place for learning through out my journey in passing this exam...

I also cleared, see my path to the test above. Earned 3 Ps and 2MPs

The test:

Plenty of EV related questions, most were straight forward.  I looked forward to these questions.

More questions on risk strategy then I had expected, not a strong area for me

numerous questions on change process, think I was mediocre in this area

More questions than I expected on comm channels, some were easy while others were challenging. Probably 5 or so questions.

Maybe 5 storming, norming, etc ...

Seemed like the Risk and Quality are the key knowlege areas

There were no explicit questions on ethics

Couple of other notes ...

I spent no time memorzing tools and techniques

I did spent some time with inputs and outputs (couple days before the exam) based on the exercise at the end of Rita's book.  I found Table 4-1 of PMBOK useful to help figure out the correct in's and out's. Didn't feel like I needed to memorize since the test will be providing the choices anyway

Brain Dump - Formulas referenced in Rita's book - this was good to have. Table 3-1 of PMBOK (don't think I used it more than 1x but the fact that I had memorized was helpful).

Finished with about 20 mins to review.  I found marking the questions that I was not confident in helpful.  I went back and reviewed a few that I was confident were initially wrong. Didn't get enough time to go through them all.

If I had to do it again (thank god I don't) - I would have the change process per Rita's book memorized and well understood.

Focused my studying more around change and risk strategies

Strongly recommend the PMStudy free exam - very similar to the PMP IMO.  I would consider taking more of the test if I had to do it again.  Scordo was also good (and free with PMI membership).  Think Lehman is overkill but still useful, would do the 75Q again.

So glad its over and appreciate all that this site provided.  Most useful ... others posting their mock test results which gave me the confidence in my results to move forward - benchmarking :)
