I have passed the PMP exam

Hello PMZilla family -

I am extremely happy to share that I have passed the PMP exam with 3P and 2MP. I have been part of PMZilla family for over 6 weeks and honestly this is the biggest PMP knowledge base. Since the exam pattern changed on 31-July, it was a big challenge for me when to take up the exam as there were just 2-3 lesson learnt by mid August. Finally with the support of my husband I decided to give the exam yesterday and passed.

I just read PMBOK5 2 times, Rita 7th and Headfirst (old one) and gave PMP mock test from Pmstudy, Pmp4sure (full paid package), Christopher Scordo, Rita fast track, Pmzilla, Oliver Lehman & Techfaq. As an average person, I feel this much preparations are sufficient. I was scoring around 70% in mock exam and my total preparation duration was like 3 months.

With the above reading and mock test, I did not feel the PMP exam questions completely new. What I saw in the exam was nothing very different. The exam pattern is very close what you see from good mock test, however the questions will not be the same (quite obvious). PMP exam question toughness is moderate and if you target tough questions practice (Pmp4sure, Pmzilla, Oliver) you can make it more easily.

A very common question that I see here being asked in forum is for the mathematical based question. I did not see much questions on this, say maximum 10 and out of those 10, I could guess the answer for 5 without applying any formula in the background. However, be prepared for situational questions as majority of PMP questions are based on situations given in 2-3 lines.

I hope my experience would help some PMP aspirants here. I wish everyone good luck for the PMP exam.

Sujata Nair

prakavi

Hi prakavi,

I used Rita to understand the concepts for mathematical questions, in fact Rita Fast track has some wonderful question and explanation on this. Also, the mock test I used had good numerical questions for practice.

Hi Sujata,

Congrats for pasing the PMP exam. I just want to ask if you can recall on which KA did the ITTO was asked on the exam?

Thanks.

Hi GSA,

Not sure if other people who have passed PMP have some different experience, as per my experience most of the PMP questions are on IITO. If you look things closely even the simple one liner questions and long situational questions, they will ask on IITO. I would say, like 70% of PMP questions are on IITO. Its difficult to think for these 140 questions from which KA those questions were, I would rather say, PMP exam has IITO questions from all KA. However I did see lots of IITO on procurements and risk.

One advice I can give you is that, do not miss reading any IITO from PMBOK.

Sujata Nair

Sujata

This is wonderful advice on the ITTO preparation. Can you sent your notes to sgsjca AT gmail.com

Thanks

I agree there were ITTO questions from every KA and there were lot of them but may not be as much as 70 %. In my case I think they were around 20 %.

Earlier even I was afraid of ITTO, but after continuously studying for 2 months and understanding the subject well, I think you would tend to easily remember them and would not need to memorize any of them.

You can download free notes like the Rajesh Nair notes and even the Abhishek version from here itself.

 Sujatha,

How much did you score in PMPFastrack 'SuperPMP'? And you used for Fastrack v7 or v8?

Karan

I used Rita FT 7th only. I did not try any full test from Rita FT, I just tried questions in small chunks say 10 and saw the result and explanation carefully. I feel I was like 60-70% accurate all the time.
