New to Project Management
Hi All,
I'm new to project management and dont have any relevant project management experience, but i'm interested in pursuing my career in project management.
I'm currently working in IT Operations with overall exp of 9yrs.
I want to pursue PMP certification, i have gone through numerous posts and would like to know on which book i need to start off reading either Rita Mulcahy PMP Exam Prep, 8th Edition or PMBOK Guide – Fifth Edition.
I would appreciate if people with project management experience suggest me from which book to start off with to get into project management.
Thanks
Gopi

I would say start with Rita
I would say start with Rita first and then goto PMBOK, as PMBOK you may feel it as dry material!!

Prepare Notes While you Read
Dear Gopi,
As Pradeep suggested you can start reading Rita first, but make sure you once you read a paragraph try to prepare notes as this helps you understand much easier and remember what you have read. This shall help you in achieving PMP certification easier. As you prepare your own notes u ill never forget the concepts.
