Passed PMP with 5 Ps on July 24th

 Hello everyone,

First of all thanks to this forum for a very quick turnaround and amazing responses.

I passed my PMP on July 24th with 5 Ps. Here is my LL:

Background: I thought of preparing for PMP almost 2 years back but never got motivated until in early June when I realized that the whole pattern is getting changed. I quickly joined the PMI, took the membership and selected the D Date.

The last availability I got was for July 24th 5:30 pm.

 Reference Material and Mocks:

I had Rita’s book and PMBOK which I read twice. Then in the final week I had my revision of both the books. I did not go through the hassle of reading any other book.

For Mocks I did all the questions of Rita’s book and purchased PMP Exam Simulator. In the last week I also purchased PMStudy 4 tests. Apart from that I probably tried anything which I could have done in 3 days of my vacations. E.g. Oliver (75 & 175), Brainbok, PassionatePMP, Exam Central, Kim Heldman etc.

My scores in the mock started with 63% (Oliver 75) and were in the range of 85% (Simulator and PMStudy).

My overall preparation time was close to 1 month (I took the first mock without studies on June 22nd).

 Actual Day:

I did not have the patience to wait until 5:30 pm so I called Prometric a day before if they can accommodate me earlier and they said I can be there by 3 pm. When I woke up on the day of my exam, I did not want to read anything so I reached Prometric at 1:30 and they said they can accommodate me and I straight away went for security check and started my exam.

I took a break for 5 minutes in between and probably marked 75-80 questions in the first go. Then after the break I settled down and started reading all those questions again. When I was done, I had 5 minutes left wherein I did not want to read any of these and clicked the End Exam button. White screen, survey, white screen again and finally my 1 month of preparation paid off “Congratulations…”.

I believe the real exam was neither tough nor easy and it was more based on the overall understanding of the PMBOK. The closest I can say was PMStudy.

 What next?

I have completed15 hours of PDUs so far using various sources.

One question to the group: Which other certification should I target next? I am getting confused with ITIL (3 levels) vs SixSigma.

Please let me know if you need any suggestions or guidance.

Good luck to everyone !

Thanks,

Amit Tripathi, PMP
