Failed PMP - Lost Job!
Hi Folks,
29th July'13 was one of the worst day of the my life. I've 5 yrs of PM experience and recently made a career change. I joined a mid-sized organisation which had a pre-requisite to clear PMP exam to be a permanent employee. Out of desperation, I appeared twice in two months and failed both the times. Finally, shown the door and don't know what to do. Some of my colleagues who were less experienced than I were able to clear it in the first attempt. Feeling completly lost now.
I may be down but i'm not out (of the game). I know I can clear it too but I need some one to mentor me. I cannot ask my colleagues to help me as this would be quite embarassing coz I was senior to them and most imp now i'm an ex-employee. So is there any virtual friend who can lend me a helping hand? Any suggestions regading directions/approach for 3rd attempt will be more than helpful.
My test scores are mentioned below:
1st attempt scores- Initiation MP/ Planning BP/ Executing MP/ M&C BP/ Closing MP
Rita 2 times. PMBOK1 time. All Fastrack questions scoring around 60%-70%
2nd attempt Scores-Initiation BP/ Planning BP/ Executing MP/ M&C BP/ Closing MP
Rita 2 times. PMBOK skipped. All Fastrack questions scoring around 80%-85%
Scordo Questions - 60%-70%
Can someone help me fix my approach for the 3rd try.
Thanks,
Aarush

Do not lose hope
You can surely make it. Gather yourself, read the links posted earlier.
I will suggest - do not repeat the same tests. Once you have done that, you can more or less remember and answer it. That isn't the main purpose of these mock tests - it is to understand gaps. Do varied tests - admin has posted a lot of those and then analyze where are you running short on.

Don't give up!
Sorry to hear, but dont worry, you will get your chance.
I too, had Rita and let me tell you. Those Rita test and Crowes book exams are very easy. It doesnt represent the true exam, not even close.
Paid mock exams like 200 hard questions on PMzilla and other online websites are the closest IMO.
Check out my feedback:

We've decade task management encounter, but this particular dosent actually count with regard to everything because you must solution just about every question about the test just as if it had been only requesting the actual PMI ideal practises solution. www.theukjobstoday.co.uk

Don't Giveup
Hi friend,
Sorry to hear. But it is not an end. Dont Give up. I analysed your 2 attempt scores. What I found out is,
1) There is no difference between first and second attempt.
2) The specific point is PMBOK is skipped in second attempt and in first attempt also it is not taken seiously.
My advice is go to the basics. Try to understand the PMBOK clearly. It is the knowledgebase, from that only all other guides derived out. Eventhough it will not tell you in exam percepective, it is very important to read and understand. You should know the Picture which tells the ITTO for the processes. You should not memorise but you should analyse and have a reason for the each ITTO (Reason will not be available in the guide(like Rita etc) and IT will be available only in PMBOK clearly). Once you can tell ITTOs then you are ready to go through Rita and then mock tests. If you are continously getting more than 80% in Rita and other exams. then you are aready to take the exam.
I heard from the forum if you failed in 3rd attempt you cant take the exam for 1 year from the date you took the exam. So please take your time and prepare well. All the best.
