Passed PMP Today! 4 MPs and 1 P
Good afternoon all,
I decided to share my experience with everybody as I have been a silent member and all LLs helped A LOT.I passed the PMP exam today with 4 MPs and 1 P in planning. It was an exhausting journey but worth it :).
I will quickly share some LLs with everybody:
1. I read Rita's book once but thoroughly and made sure I understand everything I was reading from the beginning. Finished it few days before the exam. Really helped me understand everything. I took all the chapter tests. Scored on average 75%. Some got over 80% and 90% though.
2. I did not read the Pmbok thoroughly. I went through the KAs I needed the most couple of days before the exam. I read the Quality and Procurement, and few other processes
3. I took 2 classes for PMP prep 6 weeks long. They were through ed2go. Honestly don't even remember anything from them. I didn't concentrate on the material.
4. I downloaded an app called benchprep. I read all lessons and did all the tests. Got me familiar with all the ITTOs, processes and terms. Not sure of the value in it but because I passed I will assume it helped :)
5. DO NOT get discouraged because of ur mock exam scores. I took Oliver's 75 Q. But this was before I completed Rita's book. Score around 60%. I took Scordo's mock exam 18 and 17. Scored around 70%. I also took head first 200 Q and scored 81%. Same day I took a free test from pmpforsure and scored 52%. I was sooo discouraged and upset. But my husband was so encouraging I decided to keep on studying (this was Sunday, I took the test today, Tuesday). I also bought a Q & A little pocket book from PMI and had questions by KAs. Did most of them after reading a Rita chapter and score 80%-90%.
6. I am a bad example when it comes to studying... I even read some 2 hrs before the exam...
Total study time.. I started reading Rita about 6 weeks before the exam, for about 2 hrs/day but not every day. I did more 1-2 weeks before the exam.
Now LLs on the actual exam:
1. Know ur formulas. I did a brain dump in the 15 minutes comp tutorial of page 43 and all the formulas. Referenced it several time during the exam. Many simple ev, pv, eac, etc questions.
2. Exam is NOT as hard as I thought. I was expecting looong questions that are hard to understand with all possible correct answers. I might have had MAYBE 5 like that.
3. I did not memorize ITTOs. But I don't like to study like that regardless. As long as you understand what each does you will be fine.
4. Wish i'd had studied harder to get 5 Ps... aghhhh
I will be more than happy to answer any other questions! Good luck everybody!!
