Starting PMP Preparation

Hi Fellow PMP Aspirants,

I've recentlly joined the community and am looking forward to connect with fellow aspirants who are new and have recently started their preparations/are planning to start in the near future.

Could we connect and share our knowledge/queries/get involved in discussionsand help eachother in clearing the exam.

 Hi Sharad,

I took the initiative to sit for PMP exam as soon as I can. I am just signed in the forum and I found it very intriguing. At this moment I search for a PDF file to start reading. I heared about Rita's book and Rajesh Nair Notes but I have no idea how much updated are. I found an xls post with these notes but I think thta it can be printed..

Confirm if you are also going with PMP with 5th edition of PMBOK?

 I have no idea my friend....I started from the scratch so I dont know the difference of versions.

 

I just want some guidance.

 Aalexopo,

there is difference.

Past 31 July 2013, PMP exam will be based on PMBOK5 not PMBOK4.

there are new process & 1 Knowledge area is added.

 

But I am looking for a good reference book.

 Rinkesh, I had no idea for that...I am also looking for a good reference book. I heard about Rira's book but I dont know how to find it in hard copy and how much up-to-dated  it is (concernng the changes you mentioned)

Hi Friends,

Yes, PMBOK's latest edition is edition 5.

I've read a few posts and have found that the contact class institute would provide softcopy of the book.

Also, Rita's book is prescribed before enrolling for the contact classes, so that we are at a  certain level before joining the class. Also, then we'd be in a position to participate in the class. I'm not sure about the latest edition of this book.

I belong to Delhi; is there anyone in Delhi, so that we could connect?

Also, I'd request few seniors to get involved and help/suggest/guide us in preparations.
