Passed PMP-First Attempt- 5P's (7/5/13)
Hello All,
I passed my exam Today on 1st attempt (5 P's). Like many others, I am a silent follower of PMZilla Forum which I would like to thank this forum for providing many valuable resources for Exam Preparation.
I had a triple challenge with this exam: 1)The limited time (pass the exam before July 31) 2) English is my second language and 3) I am pregnan(5 months).
My goal was to be prepared in 1.5 Months, Since I was studying alone, I planned me own study plan:
Study materials:
1. PMBOK (I recommend to read it at least twice)
2.PM PrepCast was the best thing which I came across when doing preparation.
Exams I used:
1)-PM Exam Simulator
2) Oliver Leahman's 75 and 175 questions test (Free online)
3) PMStudy Test (200 questions free)
Tips:
1- Make your own summary with your own words trying to understood instead of memorize.
2-When you finished your summary, make many practice exams as you can.
3-When you present practice exams, verify correct and incorrect answers and make notes in your summary.
At the end you will get a valuable material that contain your gaps.
Every time that you add something in your summary read it at least twice it's enough for never forget it and avoid the same mistake again.
3-Memorize the 42 processes and formulas is vital.
4-Try to understood the ITTO's instead of memorize (understanding the funtion for each one is easy to rememeber where they came from and what is its result)
About the exam:
-I felt that the exam was difficult, and for me one of the difficult part was that I request the language aid (spanish) and I had to read in spanish (The traslation wasn't good and the spanish vocabulary was confusing) and english so my time was consuming, when i was in the middle of the exam I read just in english (becuase I was taken more that 1 min by question)
Note: For the people that ask about how the language aid works: The screen show the question and the answer in english (below) and spanish(above) at the same time, but you must answer the question in english. Be prepare because the traslation is not good, so something you need to read both (english and spanish) to understood the question (is too much waste time).
-I had only 4 minutes to review my marked questions, in my mind I had the idea that I have to answer the question correct at the first time because I knew that I wouldn't have any time to review nothing.
-The questions were situational and at the end of the situation the question, most of the question are very related with PMBook.
-2 of the 4 answers availables were very easy to eliminate. You need to focus just in 2 possibles answers, try to understand the question, eliminate distractors data - many of them are relates with Schedule-Cost Performance.
-The most important thing don't be nervous, try to don't say anyone about the date of you exam, because is more pressure for you.
I want to share this with you because for me pass this exam was a personal challenge, because I had many varibles in my head (Exam, language and pregnancy) but I know that when we want to achieve something with the effort everything is possible.
If I can help with something I am in the best disposition.
*Sorry about my english, I am trying to do my best.
Good Luck to all PMP aspirants!
