Passed PMP on 1st try on June-25
Hi All,
Pleased to inform that I have passed PMP yesterday (6/25) on my first try. My back ground is 8 yrs of industry experience with 3-4 years of project leading/managing. Initially I started the study from Jun 2012 but couldnt advance much due to work pressure and all. My real preparation starts from Apr'13 and mainly the last week when I devoted around 12 hrs per day for studying and mock testing.
Book: PMBoK and Rita: PMBok is must, I cannot remember howmany times I studied this book. But starting with PMBok was really difficult if you dont have much idea on the PM processes and metholodogies.
MockTest: This is very crucial. Test as much as you can. There are many free sites available and I tried almost all. Took 4 tests from PMSTUDY. I think Frank T. Anbari which is available with PMI memebrship has good effect. I felt many gaps while writing this test. But don't expect a single question to be common from any kind of Mock Test. PMP questions are unique and more applied oriented where mock test questions are tended to be memorize oriented. That is big difference.
On PMP Test:
Reached the centre one hour before the scheduled time and test started as soon as the formalities were completed. There are many lengthy prometric processes which will be repeated if you come out of the exam room for any break. My suggestion is - have your food before the exam and don't even think to get out the room in 4 hours.
Questions are very length - at least 70% of those. and I had to read the whole story before I click the answer. This is the difference, in mock, maximum of the tests available in market are having short question type. Example in mock ; what would you apply in the t&t of create wbs? but the real exam will give you one para with story of ABC company containg some details about WBS, you may not find the word WBS but the para will describe about it. then the question will come. Please note this is not real question, I just used it for example. There were minimum of 40 math questions with EMV/graph/Comm channel etc. But those were also not straight forward as compared to mock.
One bad thing happened to me: while answering around 52nd question, I found my computer got stuck and not responding. I had to call the invigilator he told about technical fault and asked me to wait outside. Felt very angry and nervous that time, technician came and fixed the problem but I lost 15 mins of time there which they couldnt recover. Anyway I dont mind as i passed now..... Completed all the questions in 3hrs 45 mins, my usual time in mock test was around 2:30 hrs to 3 hrs..
Then clicked the sublit button and skipped the feedback and atlast got the beatiful word 'Congratulations....'
I was a silent visitor of the forums for last few months. But the discussions,LL, suggestions I found here are awsome. Thank u all for your help.

Dear Rashmi Atttempt Scordo
Dear Rashmi
Atttempt Scordo tests by going into e reads of PMI website.
Start with Chapter 1 - 13, They are relatively easier which will give you much needed confidence.
Don't miss Chapter 13-18 subsequently.
followed by Oliver lehman 75 and 175Q
If time permits, go for PMzilla tough 30.
with the above, u should be able to easily crack the exam
All the best
