Passed PMP on Sat 15-Jun-2013!!!

I am so excited to let you all know that I passed my PMP exam on Sat 15-Jun-2013!! What a relief!! A huge weight off my shoulders!! The exam was much tougher than any mock exam that I took. Most questions were very lengthy!! Not what I expected at all!!

I read PMBoK and Rita's PMP Exam Prep twice!! I took 6 full mock exams. I practiced Rita's FastTrack, Chris Scordo, HeadFirst & PMStudy mock exams.

I started on my PMP journey 6 months ago. I found Rita's book to be very helpful as it made sense to me while reading through it. I did not memorize ITTOs, but instead just understand them.

Advice for anyone who is planning to take the test - have a game plan before the test.

(1) Plan how you will spend the 15 minutes computer tutorial to do your brain dump. Everyone is different. I replicated Page 43 of PMBoK and formulae.

(2) Plan ahead before you go in the exam, if you will take a break or not. If you are planning to take a break, when should you take it and how long should the break be. Be FLEXIBLE about it while taking the test!!!

(3) Last week before the exam, take it slowly as you need to get your body ready for the PMP marathon!! Believe me, it takes a toll on you!!

I had plans to take a break after answering 100 questions, but since most of my questions were very lengthy, I had to make sure I can finish the exam and I opted not to take a break!! I finished the exam with 10 minutes to spare which I used to review the ones that I marked for review.

GOOD LUCK to  you all!!

Thanks,
Veena, PMP

Congratulations & well done for this great milestone.
I'm planning to take the exam in 2 weeks.
From your opinion , what is the closet MOCK tests to the exam? Chris Scordo or PMStudy from the difficulty side?

Good Luck to you!!

I would say none!! Both Chris Scordo and PMStudy are quite straight forward compared to the actual exam!! Having said that, I still think you should practice as much as possible!! This is what got me through it on my first attempt!!

One more thing, after each mock exam, make sure that you review the ones you got wrong. Make sure you understand why it is wrong.

Hope this helps!!

 Congrats, Veena!!

Thanks

Thanks everybody for the congratulatory message!! It was a relief!! I am sooooooo happy, I did it!!!

I would say practice your brain dump several times every day and time yourself (during practice). You will have about 10 minutes to put brain dump down during the computer tutorial.

And I took a lot of practice exams the last 2 weeks and spent time reviewing the ones I got wrong. I reviewed my summarized notes based on which questions I was getting wrong. I did not take any full mock exam the last week, instead, I will just take 50 test questions at a time.

I also practiced questions on EV calculations!! There are a lot of them in the exam!!

Also, I noticed,  the actual exam did not have questions like, EXCEPT, NOT, etc...

Hope this helps!!

Good LUCK!!

Thanks,
Veena, PMP
