PMP Certified on 10/Jun/2013
Thanks PMZilla for the extensive resources, which helped in understanding my knowledge gaps and gain confidence to give exam. PM Zilla Free exams, Raga's notes and discussion forum provided great help.
Books, in order of reference:
- Andy Crowe
- PMBOK (Read, studied, revision, skimming - 4 rounds)
- Head First PMP
- Rita M
Duration: 15 Weeks
Training PDU: Attended 4 day training provided by PMI Pune chapter.
Study Group: Facilitated by PM CoE within my organization.
Other help: PM Zilla, wiki central, Google, other PMP sites, etc.
Mock questions attempted: Approximately 2000 (includes chapter questions in above books, PMI provided sample questions). I observed PM Zilla questions have close resemblance.

Tip:
- Practice writing down PMBOK Page 43, (Imp.), Process Group wise to get a better understanding
- Process Groups: Memorization doesn't work for me. So, I understood each process concept wise.
- Importance of each process group, in terms of benefit to overall project management
- What are the major outputs from process
- What is required as input to get the desired output and who (process) provides it
- What are the available options to perform the process.
- Download a user notes available in PM Zilla (or which you are comfortable with) and start appending or editing notes according to your understanding. Keep reading your notes as and when you get time, to ensure Integration is not forgotten when you are studying Procurement :)
- Formulas: Solve as many questions as possible to get a good hold of equations. Especially, EVM & EMV.
- Practice atleast 3 full length mock tests to adapt sitting at one place for over 4 hours and staying cool. Expect a bit noisy environment @ prometric center (keyboard strokes, outside noise or howling noise from headsets provided).
- Understand why you got a question wrong and write down in your notes.
- Most of these free exam sites keep history of your scores. You can also keep a track on your performance.
- Try to attempt any question that comes your way. If you couldn't answer, Good, you caught a gap in your understanding.
All the very best..!!
