Depreciation Question
Submitted by Jgrind07 on Wed, 05/29/2013 - 03:45
I have not seen any depreceation questions in any of the mocks ups except http://www.scribd.com/doc/28680971/101-PMP-Sample-Questions-for-the-PMP-Exam
Does it required to learn this concept for the exam? Looks like there are 3 or 4 tyoes of depreciation types - I do not want to confuse myself with one more new concept.
Can any of the recent PMPs comment on it?
Geethika, CnpPMP, Sankrit and others - your opinions?
Thanks
Jai

Reg: Depreciation Qs
Yes..You are right, We could not see those mathematical Qs anywhere other than that Scribd material.
And that Scribd material is actually old version, as you can see some old EAC/ETC formulas which were not present in our current version of pmbok.
Rita book also suggests just to know what is what and no need of calculations.
But exam is kind of uncertainty and we dont know what type of Qs we get in our "lot".
I didnt get any of those depreciation Qs personally. It is of least importance than EVM formulas and CP mathematical Qs which will be certainly tested in all exams. So it is wise to invest your time there.
But prepare yourself just with the various depreciation types.

Completely agree with Geethika's Analysis
Completely agree with Geethika's Analysis.
Yes, conceptuall know what depreciation mean and thats about it, No need to spend any time on calculateing single, double, triple depreciation .
Your time more wisely spent on EVM types questions.

I concur to Geethika's
I concur to Geethika's comment as well. With regrads to PMP exam I haven't heard or have encountered the doble depreciation or Straight line depreciation either. But the you should be aware of it in some cases it may be asked as one of the options in the possible answers.
