Q1) A task was scheduled to use two persons, full time, and take two weeks to complete. Instead, the project manager was only able to assign one person to this task. At the end of two weeks, the person assigned to the task completed 75% of the work.
What is the cost performance index?

Q2) A Project was scheduled to be performed by four resources for three weeks, working throughout the Project duration. Q1)  & Q2)  We don't have any actual cost information here (since CPI = EV / AC)... The given data seems more for SPI = 0.75 and 0.4 respectively?

In any case, we shouldn't be concerned with who or how many people did what, only the final value added or work complete should matter for computing indices. Right?

I was just atking a trail test for 52 questions on WHIZlabs...

Right, lookin at the information provided in the question more related to SPI...no actual cost provided in it.

how did you arrive at SPI as 0.75 & 0.40,

75% is considered as EV right and PV should be planned completion for 2 week.

also, for the second one 0.4?

Because the numbers are given as percentages (and not as absolute values) in the question.

Question 1 : CPI 1.5

Total Work Done EV = 0.75

AC = 0.5  [ As BAC was 2 Resouce 2 Weeks i.e 4 person Week But Used only 2 Person Week ]

So CPI = 0.75/0.5 = 1.15

Question 2 : CPI 0.8

Total Work Done 0.40 EV

Actual Cost 6 Person week [ As BAC was 4 Resouce 3 Weeks  =12 Week ]  So AC = 0.5

So CPI = 0.4/0.5 = 0.8
