PMP Exam

Hello All,

I passed my exam on the 19th of September 2010.

I read Rita's, Andy’s and the PMBOK.

My plan of attach for the exam itslef. Total study time 5 months.

First round

Any question that did not have a straight forward answer got a "Marked" and "Next question"response. This included all questions that needed calculations. Took me 2 hours.

Second round

All "Marked" questions and the calculation questions. Still if a question required me to spend more than a 1min , it got the "Leave marked" treatment. Took me 1.15 hours.

Third and Final round

All remaining “Marked" questions. 30 mins.

Why this approach...

By getting through 200 questions in the first round, I knew what to expect. Made it easy for me to control the exam and not the other way around. Most importantly made me relax.

Was able to better manage my time

Made me read the difficult questions atleast 2-3 times. Worked really well.

So what did this experience teach me...

1. If you want to know what PMP really means and understand the concepts..

Read all the study material above. Do lot of PMP questions. ( There are a lot of PMP questions that you find on the net). Helps train your mind to the format and kind of questions to expect.

2. You just need to pass the PMP exam.. (NOT Recommended)

Read the PMBOK , pretty much memorize it, and also Rita's detailed chart of ITTO's. PMP questions.

All in all it is great to be finally certified. One thing I did notice was that, there were many questions with grammatical errors, kind of made it hard to understand what the question was about. Not sure if it was intentional or not.

 Congrats!!!
