Stuck on Quality Control

Folks - I'd really appreciate if you can help me understand the concept talked in this question. I thought that the answer was # 4 but I am wrong. Anyone to explain this, please?

I am not completely convinced with my thought process on this q. But here is my understanding

Answer #4 seems appropriate because Tolerance and Control limits will tell me whether process is out of control or not. But is that sufficient?

How are you going to measure and evaluate quality of product/service/process? 

These would be done using statistical quality control techniques i.e. sampling and probability.

This is another straight question from PMBOK. Refer Pg206.

This is one of the questions in PMSTUDY Exam

Page 206,  PQ . Control requires all the above listed 4. But the most important one is SAMPLING and PROBABILITY.


What about the same in P. Q Assurance ? Does any one knows ?

Please note that the question asks the working knowledge (that means experience) so I would select option 2. sampling and probability. Please see my justification.

1. Prevention and inspection --- these are actions

2. sampling and probability  -- The person who does the quality control should know what is sampling and probaility so that he can compare the reults against the defined data . So to find out the data, he/she should have knowlwdge of what is sampling and probability.

3. special causes and random causes --- these are specific testing scenario and not the knowledge a person should have.

4. Tolerances and Control Limits - these are the data that will be defined in the Quality plan and will be verified witht the actual result in the Quality control process. So these are not the knowledge of a person.

The project management team should have a working knowledge of statistical quality control, especially sampling and probability, to help evaluate quality control outputs. Among other subjects, the team may find it useful to know the differences between the following pairs of terms:

Q is based on concept of section 8.3

In mock tests, many times questions are experienced without clarity. It depends on author, he/she framed question with his/her mind set. At common platform, these are considered sometimes tough/ sometimes incorrect.

I believe, real exam/ pmp /pmi does not ask such ambiguous questions.
