cost management -- new duration

 Using the data shown below, the new duration of the project is:

PV = $4,000, EV = $ 6,000, AC = $8,000, BAC = $12,000, Critical path = 15 weeks

 

Answer is given as 10 weeks

 

Can someone explain the concept?

Since EV  > PV by 50%, the project is ahead of Schedule and hence it will complete sooner , if you do the math, instead of 15 weeks, it will now complete in 10 weeks.

If you want to go mathematically, it  is


New Duration = Planned Duration / SPI = 15 /(6/4) = 10 weeks

 It is good qn 

SPI = 6000/4000 =1.5

BAC DURATION  = 15 weeks

corresponding EAC DURATION = 15/1.5 = 10
