Question & clarification on team stages

Hi guys,


I am preparing for PMP and found the below question quite confusing:


Your current project team is in performing stage. A new team member gets added to your team. To which stage your team will go back to:
a. Forming
b. Storming
c. Norming
d. Performing


What is the answer and why?


What if the team is currently in norming stage and new team member is added?

 When a new member gets added, the team should move back to forming and move through all the stages again as Team is formed with individuals and the characteristics of individuals to again interact, gain trust, do storming, adjust and then come to a common ground of understanding.

 i THINK this is not genuine thar one memer can bring down the performance of whole .

As per PMBOK it is an theory for team which has number of m3mb3rs passing in stages at a time .

if individual will enter this theory does not say to get any change in all.
