Passed PMP today on First Attempt
Hello All,
I have been a silent observer and have had the opportunity to learn from others LL. This helped me with my preparation and to understand my level of preparedness.
I passed the PMP exam today and I want to share some of my recommendations from this experience.
1. Do not just memorize ITTOs, you are wasting your time and effort. Instead focus on how each process relates to the project life cycle and how processes interact, what information from one process feeds the others and why....think and understand the logic. If you master this, you will truly use the PMI process in real life.
2. Do many practice exams and build a test taking technique that is unique to you. Keep in mind, the only technique that will work on the exam is your own...to read, understand, and decipher what is being asked and what will be the right answer. Trust me there are no short cuts on this one.
My score were
Oliver Lehmann75Q - 81%
PM Fast Track - 83%
PMStudy - 77%
3. Practice your cheat sheets to ensure you can download information on to the scratch paper in the least time possible. Having this is a comfort factor only. If you are good at this, you probably will not even need to look at your cheat sheet...but in case you do its there.
4. Get plenty of sleep the night before exam as it will help you focus better.(I actually could not adhere to this one and went to the exam a bit groggy as I had a sleepless night the night before the exam).
5. During the exam have a positive frame of mind, this helps reduce unnecessary stress and will help you perform better.
Other than these many of the LL are the same as those who walked on this path before me :)
Good luck and best wishes.
