Passed PMP on 2nd attempt

Just passed the PMP on my second attempt and thought i'd share my experience as I found the posts on PMZilla very helpful in helping me succed on my 2nd attempt.

I took the exam for the first time about 4 weeks ago and failed with 3 BP's and 2MP's. After my attempt, I discovered PMZilla and started reading alo of the LL's and what material was most beneficial. My studying strategy consisted of going through the PMBOK and Rit'a simultaneously 1x to make sure i grasp all the areas.  In addition, I took the PMStudy 1,2, and 3 exams (one per week, on the weekend normally). I reviewed all the questions and answers I got wrong and made sure i understood those concepts. During the last week, I read the PMBOK again. On the last day before the test, I went through about 300 questions I had already completed from the PMStudy test and went through the Rajesh Nair notes in the evening.

On exam day (today), when the test began, the first thing I did was write down all the 42 processes and the formulas on (during the 15 minutes of tutorial). I didn't find the exam overly complicated as I had expected. I thought the questions were very similar complication level as the pmstudy tests. I was able to finish the exam in 3.5 hours and reviewed in the last 30 minutes. Anyways, was glad to see the congratulations at the end of the test!

Thanks to everyone here, as PMZilla was a major part of my success and i found the contribution of the members very helpful!

  Dear Friend,

Congrats man!. I appreciate your courage of re-taking the exam just a month after the first encounter.

 Congrats !

How you scored in your mocks ?

What are the  things you  done differently  after first attempt ?

Thanks

 My mock results:

PMStudy 1: 65%

PMStudy 2: 65%

PMStudy 3 (2 days before exam): 74%

I didn't come up with any special strategy for the second attempt. I basicaly went through the PMBOK and Rita's and made sure that I understood every concept as i went through it. Did the questions after every chapter at end of Rita's as well. Also made sure that i memorize all the formulas (this is really important) and the 42 processes. Make sure you write this down as the first thing on exam day, i belive this is a huge confidence builder during the exam. Also, the first thing I did during the exam when i read each question was to try to identify which process group the question is referring to, which i found very helpful. Good luck, hope this helps!
