Conflict resolution technique

why teh ans is 2?I was think and as 3.Bcoz least  preffered will be forcing not withdrawal. Any suggestion?

Q:among these conflict resolution technique  which conflict resolution mode is most preffered  or least preffered by PMs(answer format:most preferred ,least preferred)

1 compromise,withdrawal

2 confrontation, withdrawal

3 confrontation, forcing

4 smoothing ,withdrawal

 confrontation & withdrawal both are the most preferred conflict resolution techniques, so answer is 2

See:  PMBOK 4th edition Page 240 and Rita Book Page 326

each conflict technique has two names

Confronting/Problemsolving

Withdrawing/Avoiding

 

Therefore #2 is the right answer

 There is many old discussions over this subject.

Conclusion is that - PMBOK does not determine any universal order of preference. Rather PMBOK says selection of technique is situation based.

It is also clear that such direct questions are not asked in exam.

Situation will be given -- then you have to choose which should be better.
