Confused with diff formulas for EAC and ETC
Hi All ,
Im aware that for finding Estimate at completion i have 4 diff formula
** EAC ***
1. EAC = BAC \ CPI : no veriances
2. EAC = AC - ETC : Original Estimates were flawned
3. EAC = AC+(BAC-EV) : ATYPICAL
4. EAC = AC+(BAC-EV)/CPI : TYPICAL
** ETC ***
1. ETC = EAC-AC
2. ETC = BAC-EV :- TYPICAL
3. ETC = BAC-EV / CPI :- ATYPICAL
My concern is that im not able to relate these formula with the question that i do in the mock exams.Im not sure about the context these formulas are used . Specifically not sure abt the TYPICAL and NON typical .
Can some one explain to me please
Thanks in advance
Sree

Hi,
The link above has a trailing slash which is breaking it. Here's the correct link:

try resolving questions on
try resolving questions on www.scribd.com (101 mathematical questions). More practice on similar questions on EV would help you in memorizing these and helps you to understand the concepts. The answer section on EV related questions provides an explanation on on several EAC and ETC formulas and when it should be used.
Better start working on those questions and let me know if works for you.
Note: if you try to memorixe just like that it will more confusing for you better get your hands on the questions first.

The essence of getting right in exam is work out on these practice questions as much as possible, so you find very easy going in real exam and you need not memorize these formulas..

EAC and ETC Formulas
Estimate At Completion (EAC) and Estimate To Complete (ETC) are one of the most confusing concepts of PMP Exam. The aspirants find them consfusing because most books concentrate on listing the formulas rather than giving explanation of the EVM concepts.
I have explained EAC and ETC concepts in the folliwing articles. I have not limited myself in just listing down the forumulas. I have also explained the scenarios where & how these formulas could be used. After reading these articles, you would be able to answer PMP questions confidently.
3 Estimate To Complete Formulas
5 Estimate At Completion Formulas
Good luck.
