Passed the PMP - When I stopped focusing on obtaining 80% score

How I passed the PMP Exam...

First and foremost I had to have a plan that worked for me. I highly recommend figuring out how you best process and absorb extensive information, determine a plan and schedule, and then stick to it!

Reading how many weeks, times, scores and resources other people used did no good for me personally. It only causes me to worry and prolong taking the exam… ** I can say this because initially I followed the advice from others thinking if I patterned their plan, I would gain their success. That didn't work for me and I didn't pass my first time.

Life happens you can't follow another's steps and believe it will work just the same for you. The prime advice is to do what works for you and your life, but maintain that plan at all costs (sleep depravation at times may have need to be included).

I passed my second time by thoroughly reading the PMBOK 4th ed. twice and all of Rita's PMP Exam Prep guide once and sticking to my plan at all costs. I also used this overpriced, crappy simulation software that was recommended by a PMP instructor at a local community college near where I lived. Had I known better prior, I would have just use PM Exam Simulator. When it got down the wire, I let go of trying to score above 75-80%. Once I was consistently scoring around 65-75% on mock exams.. I focused on reading the questions carefully, staying alert and thinking like a PMI professional.  I officially became a PMP two weeks before Christmas… Best Present Ever!! Best Wishes
