Passed PMP - My LL

Hello Friends,

Today I passed the PMP exam with proficiency in 3 process groups and moderately proficiency in 2. My PMP journey has been a long one as I failed the first time in June 2012. As a silent reader of this forum, I thought I should also share my journey unlike many others that becomes an inspiration, planning information and experience sharing for others unlike I was yesterday.

As said earlier, with this long journey I actually started PMP preparations since Jan 2012. With lesson learnt from the failure it took me around 2 months to get back the passion and energy to try again. Honestly, I started serious preparations since mid october 2012. Here is what I did:

Books

Read PMBOK 2 times, and Rita once

Mock Tests

I took Pmstudy free and paid (1st and 2nd), Pmpforsure and Rita Fast Track only. I feel this much is sufficient and you don’t need to hunt and try anything else (my personnel thought). I just want to endorse the Pmpforsure “Tough IITO” mock test, it’s really a mind opener for IITO (I secured 45% the first time). The explanation given by Rita for questions are again excellent and they show a direction for situational questions. The Rita explanation really needs applause.

PMZilla

The Comprehensive notes by PMZilla Members are again Excellent! I want to explicitly endorse and thank for “Abhishek's version of Rajesh Nair's notes”.

Posting by some members like sspawar, krantikumar50, saket_pmp, projmanpro and aliweb needs applause. Guru’s your contribution is priceless!

About the PMP Exam

I finished the exam in 3 hours with one break of 5 minutes. Almost 60-70% questions were situational. Some questions were long for no reasons. In some questions the information given was just to divert your focus from the correct answer. Not more than 10 questions were from diagram and numeric based. Many questions were from Risk and Quality.

Finally, the New Year has started with something good in my life. Last year was a bad year for me from both personnel and professional side. I wish everyone a very happy New Year and I pray God that your journey in this New Year is full of happiness and all PMP aspirants pass the PMP exam.

With lots of wishes,

Vinay Kumar
