Submitted by sai_murthy on Sun, 08/01/2010 - 06:21
Please clarify :
PMBoK 232 : Training : Unplanned training takes place as a result of observation, conversation, and project performance appraisals conducted during the controlling process of managing the project team.
Why it says "controlling process of managing the project team."

In the staff management plan
In the staff management plan (part of HR plan) already some trainings are planned this is planned training
Whereas during project performance some gaps or skill set updates required for particular resource is found then training for the particular resource is planned this is refered to as Unplanned training

Why it says "controlling process of managing the project team."
OK. Let me put this way : "In which Process group & Process do the Project Performance Appraisals are conducted ?"

Manage (& Control ) Project Team
In saying "conducted during controlling process of managing the project team." my understanding (according to PMI) is, since there is NO "control process" of HR KA you have to do the controlling of your team what they are learning (training) as a result of "observation..."
Another point to note here is "unplanned training" is like on-job learning
Hope this helps... and please correct me if I was wrong.
Thanks
