Cleared PMP 21/12/2012
I cleared my PMP Exam on 21/12/2012, The feeling of seeing the congratulatory message after the grilling 4 hour exam is awesome.
Following are my LL's:
Study:
--------
1. Have started a serious preparations starting October-2012
2. Prepared for a couple of hours during weekday and 4-6 hrs during weekend
3. Studied the following books:
a. PMbok - 2 times
b. Andy Crowe -3 times
c. Head first - 3 times
-- For some process, the ITTO are scattered all over the page and chances of missing are more
d. RITA M, couple of chapters....
4. Blogs, Foums(PMzilla, PMStudy). The Lessons Learned are an awesome source
5. Didn't mug the ITTO, far too many to try it. Made more sense to understand the process flow. Like the ones on page 105 (from PMbok)
6. Page Numbers in the Pmbok PDF (bottom of the page) for last minute revisions
43, 73, 104, 131, 167, 191, 217, 244, 274, 314
Mock Exams:
-------------
1. Questionnaire at the end of each chapter in all the above books
2. Complete mock exams of each of the above books
3. Christoper Scordo exams (1-10), Didn't get time for the other ones..
4. Kim Heldman
5. Olive Lehman (75 & 175 exams)
6. PMforsure
7. Use the forum suggested mock exams, some mock exams online have wrong answers and are misleading.
Tips for the Preparation:
------------------------
1. Started with Headfirst/Andy Crowe and then read PMBok for better understanding
2. Take some tricky complex/mock exams as early as possible in the preparation, not everything we read during the first pass gets registered. These mock exams helps in grasping those obvious/tricky stuff in the books
3. Don't venture to take complex exams just before the exam date, bad/moderate score hit you on the confidence levels.
4. Plan to take 1~2 breaks during the exam
5. If a question is taking more than a couple of mins, mark it with a plausible answer and move-on.
6. Have a cool mind for the exam, Preparation with good number of mock exams helps to crack the exam
7. Use the mock exam results to identify the weak areas, not all the wrongs are due to lack of knowledge. The NOT's and EXCEPT's, NEXT's etc missed in the question can contribute to the bad scores.
Thanks to the many guys who contribute to this forum,
All the very best to everyone
