Hi

Hope you have PMI membership...I also had the same doubt and then i came to know about this book on PMI site from Kim Heldman ..it has a dedicated last chapter on closure and you will find this chapter very useful..it very beautifully explains administrative closure , contract closure and procurement closure

http://pmi.books24x7.com/assetviewer.aspx?bookid=32020&chunkid=803159536

Also you can go through the following material available on PMI site

http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/Project-Management-Professional-PMP/~/media/PDF/Certifications/PMP%20Examination%20Content%20Outline_2010.ashx

Just remember one thing releasing the team is not a formal official task . A PM would require team members inputs and help for closure activities and once completed then would release the team

 thanks for your care ,

As per Rita:

 1. Close Procurement

Activities Perform Procurement Audit = > Reach Negotiated Settlement => Create Lessons Learnt => Complete Final Contract Perf. Reporting => Verify the Product => Issue formal Acceptance => Update records => Perform Financial Closure

This leads to Formal acceptance and Closed Procurements.

2. Then Close Project or Phase.

Confirm all work is done => (Procurement Closures) => Gain Final Acceptance of Product => Complete Financial Closure => Hand off completed Project => Get Feedback => Complete Final Perf. Reporting => Index and Archive Records => Update Lessons Learned.

Thanks

Mani.
