Cleared PMP Today

 Hi Team,

By God's grace cleared PMP today. I was well prepared with the ITTTOs, read PMBOK 6 times and Rita atleast thrice. 90% of the questions were scenario based - which check your conceptual understanding. Most of the questions were lengthy and wordy - so adjusting your time is very important. Here are Lessons learned for PMP aspirants

1. Read PMBOK once (as a first step read 1 chapter per day)

2. Memorize the ITTOs - helps a lot in mind mapping - write them everyday till the end

3. Read PMBOK and Rita simultaneously and try to map the concepts to the ITTOs which  you write everyday.

4.Start taking practice exams - full length - you shd develop the stamina to sit for 4 hrs continuously

5. After every practice exam - refer the answers - bridge ur knowledge gaps by refering to PMBOK and Rita. (you shd have taken atleast 10 practice tests before you appear for the exam)

6. Repeat the 3, 4 and 5 steps until you are bored (Very important :- Read PMBOK word by word)

7. 2 days before the exam - just read PMBOK Cover to Cover and map the concepts to the ITTOs - Refer Rita for Formula , ethics/PR and Questions.

8. Day of Exam: ensure u sleep well the night before, eat well becuase remeber u need the stamina - 4hrs is too taxing for the body , remain clam and dont touch PMBOK or rita...may b u can just write the formulas and ur cheat sheets one last time. As far as possible book the afternoon slot so u dont get stuck in morning traffic.

9. In the scarp sheet given to u - write the formulas, pnemonics, quality gurus and what ever u think are important based on ur pactice tests - I wudn recommen writing page 43 or all ITTOS completely as its going to use up all ur energy..

10. During the exam :- dont get terrified if there are complex questions to begin with - just remember that u will soon get easy ones - dont spend too much time on a question - if u dont get it within 45 secs to a minute - then mark and skip it. Calculations if its direct try it them and there else skip. This way u will complete the exam in 3hrs. So u will have 1 hr remaining to review the marked questions. Use breathing techniques now and then during the exam to relax / destress.

Last but not the lest keep checking PMzilla for LLs and other tips - believe me it boosts ur confidence and helps u recognize ur gaps.

All the very best. Believe me when i say " Only studying and practizing helps u clear PMP" - there are no shortcuts

Note: I spent more time with PMBOK than with my Son for the last 2 months - so now I am going to enjoy and cherish Mommyhood. You take care ppl - Wish you all sucess.

Congratulations. Your hard work has finally paid off.

Enjoy with your child.

Regards,

Amit
