PASSED PMP on 11/7 in my first try
I am so happy i am done with the studies finally and can enjoy my Christmas Holidays with my family.
First of all i had like to thank - my husband, my two kids (3 & 1 year old), All PMzilla forums and PMP aspirants.
I had registered as PMI user on 20th July 2012 and purchased Rita Mulchaly the same week. I used both the books to start studying in August. Had a couple of family trips in summer followed by parties and lost track of studies for a month in between Mid Aug- mid Sept. Finally i got my act together again in October and started studying for the exam. Since i work full time and with kids i used to study only after 11:00 PM - 2:00 PM on weekdays and few hours on weekends. 10 days prior to exam i started studying harder read PMBOK twice, Gave PMStudy $60/4 tests and was ready for the exam.
Exam day i just read definitions in PMBOK, Rita's chart and formulaes.
Sitting for real exam is so different from gving PM study tests as i really took long to answer the QUESTIONS in real exam and ended up using full 4 hours with no breaks. I finally got a screen saying 3 Proficient and 2 Mostly proficient and had a sigh of relief.
Try to study and give the exam in a month that way you won't stretch it too long and will be done before getting overwhelmed. Tell yourself you can do it and will do it. You have given tougher exams and this is just nothing.
Try and do qualitative studying instead of quantitative. Focus on weak areas as you go along. Don't loose hope and aim to finish it soon. DONT STRETCH too long as its then when it starts getting to you.
BEST OF LUCK for all those preparing for the exam.

hey rit_mis, keddypa, Itmaster1979
I had not really made ANY notes. I used Rita's prcoess charts and Learned Tools and Techniques from PMBOK by heart (http://pmzilla.com/itto-mneumonics-shreesid)
Pmzilla has excellent notes(http://pmzilla.com/comprehensive-pmp-notes) but seeing it scared me even more so i stuck to PMBok. Everyone is different i started with Rita but realized that exams use the definitions EXACTLY from PMBOK so used only PMBOK. If you are willing to shell $60 please invest it in PMSTUDY unfortunately they allow only 12 days of membership so make full use of it. Buy on a friday so you get two weekends of access to exams and answers. I have all the answers to at least 3 tests which i can pass it to you guys but then you will never get a feeling of how you will score in real exam. I refered to christopher scordo too but PMSTUDY is the best all the way through helped me get a real 4 hour exam feel.
Do you have Rita's process chart if not i can scan and email it to you?
LOTS and i mean 50-60% are situational questions so you really need to use the elimination method. More than often you can rule 2 completely out of 4 so you need to carefully read to finalize among the remaining 2 choices and cross check to see if the question says -
a) what is the FIRST thing you will do?
b) what does NOT apply or what would you NOT do?
For me passing mattered i was not interested in ACE'ing the exam cause in pratical even though you select what is the first thing you would do for exam is not REALLY the first thing you would do practically as a PM. I thought studying for PMP did give me the extra boost but i am not the typical "MUG up and pass kind" of a person so i really wanted to leave it at passing the exam and use it as a reference while working as a PM but use my best judjement at work .
