Passed PMP on 13th October

I have been a silent observer of this forum.

Today I passed PMP with 4 MP and 1 P(Planning).

Below are my LL

Preparation (Started around July 2012): I scheduled the exam and started racing down

Intially I started with reading PMBOK did not grasp much then i revamped my study plan(By looking at the LL's posted in PMZILLA), After revamping I started with Head First to get in with the concepts. Then i started reading RITA and PMBOK simultaneously, This time i was able to relate the PMBOK Concepts.

Mock Tests(In order)

Simplylearn - 63%

(Alarming - After this i intensified my studies, did not give any mock tests for one week) After that I started with a easy mock exam to get confidence.

TechFaq360 - 81%

HeadFirst - 76%

PmpForSure - 74%

ExamCentral - 79%

PMSTUDY(Free Test) - 75% - 5 days before the actual exam

After PMSTUDY I did not give any mock test, I revised PMBOK and concentrated on my weak areas RISK, QUALITY, PROCUREMENT. Day before the exam I read PMP Notes (Abhishek's Version) and got brushed up with Anils Formula cheat sheet.

Exam Day

Reached Exam center half an hour prior to exam. Exam started after breifing from the prometric staff. Brain dumped ( PMBOK Page 43 and Formalae). Page 43 did not help much but formulae helped. Exam was mix of tough and easy questions, lot of questions on EVM calculation, Risks Mitigation, Quality. Took a break at 80th question, after that i countinued till 200th question, 30 mins left for review of marked questions. With 10 min remaining i ended the exam after reviewing marked questions. I feel PMSTUDY exam is the nearest to actual exam, but actual is different than others ( like i didnot see any question like which is the wrong input/output/Tool etc.).

Suggestions to PMP Aspirants.

Memorize the formulae, Concentrate on EVM calculations, Risks and Quality.

After gaining enough knowledge in the concepts, Concentrate on PMBOk.

I feel there is no need to memorize ITTO.

I owe my success to my wife who supported my study endeavour and PMZILLA, this forum really rocks. Earlier i was doing focus less study after comming across PMZILLA i refined my study plans and finally acheived PMP in first attempt.

Thanks PMZILLA

Best of luck to future aspirants.

Best regards
Durga Prasad

How would you rate the PMP exam was it close to which mock up tests you gave?

1) Were the questions too wordy?

2) did you finish and have time to review?

3) Were questions primarily from PMBok?

4) did you find questions you never had seen before and had to make a wild guess? If so how many?

I started studying like you in JULY (but has been qualityless studying). I mean with kids running around while i study so its very hard to focus. But i aim for NOV first week your guidance would be appreciated.

 HI,

Compared to PMPFORSURE, PMP exam was easy. PMSTUDY was the nearest one.

Answers to your questions

1) Were the questions too wordy? Some questions were wordy (But not as much as RITA), Most of the questions were straight forward.

2) did you finish and have time to review? I finished with half an hour to spare for review. I finished the review in 20 min and submitted the test

3) Were questions primarily from PMBok? Most of the questions were  from PMBOK.

4) did you find questions you never had seen before and had to make a wild guess? If so how many? A couple of questions i encountered which i had never seen (around 2 %).
