Advice needed - PMP Eligibility criteria on education hours
Submitted by fundojyos on Mon, 10/08/2012 - 05:47
Hi,
I am not sure about Project Management Education criteria which asks for 35 contact hours of specific instruction that addressed learning objectives in project management.
What am I suppose to do here? I had undergone few project management trainings in my previous company. Will that help or there is structured training programme which I need to undergo?
I belong to Pune(Maharashtra, India) and if it is mandatory to take a training then which institute should I prefer?
Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

You need to have a certificate from Registered education provider REP.... So try to take either classroom or online training. You can go for PM Prepcast or Simplilearn if you need Online training. In Pune , there should be a classroom training by SimpliLearn too.

Education from REP is not
Education from REP is not necessary. You can have certificate from any provider. You can even submit certificate/letter from your employer that you have done 35 hours from them in-house. Or you can even do it online through some provider.

See…ofcourse attending a training program is not the only way to earn 35 contact hours. However, speaking logically, if you earn your contact hours via a registered PMI education provider, you get a straight 35 Contact Hours certificate which you can submit to PMI as a validated proof of your project management education.
But…if you choose any other path like getting the certificate from your company, you might face certain issues with it. For instance, you may not get straight away 35 contact hours for a single activity. You'll have to combine the contact hours for different activities, where each & every activity must be backed by validated paperwork.
Secondly, you may have to submit the papers for your company’s validation as well.
And, third, and the most important thing, PMI is very very strict with their paper formalities. Failing to adhere to any of the PMI guidelines, may put a lifetime ban on you for PMP.
I, thus, suggest you to better choose a PMI R.E.P and get your 35 contact hours either via an online PMP course or a classroom one.
One of the institute’s where I’ll be also enrolling soon, KnowledgeWoods, offers both classroom training as well as online training courses for PMP certification. As far as I know, KW conducts its training in Pune as well. I am providing below the links where you can yourself check the details of their PMP training programs:

Hope you’ll find this helful

Instruction from REP
Instruction from REP is a bit much. You can have authentication from any supplier. You can even submit authentication/letter from your head honcho that you have done 35 hours from them in-house. Then again you can even do it online through some supplier....College Papers for Sale
