Failed

Hi All,

Yesterday I took the exam and failed. I wanted to share my LL for others and I want some tips for myself as well. I was feeling very confident that I will pass the exam.  I would say the actual exam was easier than mock tests. A lot of questions on EV, EVM, quality, Procurement.  I wanted to mention that you will get multiple questions with same option to answer with different scenario. In my case I got confused and loose my focus for some time. I don’t know I got them correct or wrong. But for some time I got confused.
I don’t know where I am lacking because I got almost (85 to 80 % In all knowledge areas of Rita’s PM fast track7,  80% in all PMStudy paid mock tests, Oliver Lehmann - pdf 175 Questions 70%) books referred PMBOK- 2times, Rita 7th edition 2 times, Head first 2 times. Rajesh nair notes 1 time.

I surprised to see the result (Initiating –BP, Planning- BP, Executing- BP, M&C- MP, and Closing-MP) because I was strong in those areas.

Anyway I am taking this result positively and preparing hard for the 2nd attempt, I have changed my study plan. I will study process by process with all above books and will give more mock tests before the actual exam.

I am very sorry to hear that. I sincerely feel your pain and I hope you muster courage and achieve success next time around. In my personal opinion, after a few days when emotions settle down, you can evaluate your self better and identify what went wrong where. Maybe right now you feel you scored great in mock tests then why not in the real exam, however based on your email i feel its a possibility of just getting nervous and loosing confidence during the test. I wish you all the luck and right now i dont have much to advice since i am yet to take my first attempt and i can tell you from my past experiences, i do great in preparation but rarely good in the real exam :( thats just how inherently I am.

So do you concur that you were well prepared and just got nervous ?

All the best.

Really sad to hear this. You did get very good score in good mock tests. When a plan does not work, means its time to change the road. You have seen real PMP 200 questions, so make a fresh plan and leave aside what was earlier tried. Try something fresh with a new plan that you will make from the lesson learnt.

Wish you good luck.

Hi,

Great to hear that you are taking the result positively.Better luck next time.

You should go through PMBOK  again and try to understand the concept. For each process understand the flow diagram & see how it fits logically.U'll pass next time.

Sorry to hear that.....
If you are currently in a role of Project manager in your company there is always a tendency to start thinking as to what, you would have done in your current project. You got to put on the PMBOK "hat" and think what PMBOK tells you to do in that scenario. It's easy to think that both should be same, but believe me its not the case all times !
As few others said, continue to read PMBOK and understand its way of handling different scenarios. Good Luck.
