A question about project management experience

PMI says the following:

Project management experience dating back at least three years from application submittal date.

Project management experience not dating back further than eight years from the application submittal date.

Does this mean that if I am submitting application on 31st Dec 2012, then my experience must be between 1st Jan 2005 and 31st Dec 2009. Anything before 1st Jan 2005 and after 31st Dec 2009 will not be acceptable to PMI?

Yes, PMI would not accept those project management experience that you show are 8 years older from the day of submitting the application.

You have show the 4500 hours that is not beyond the 8 years from the current date.

And that condition about 3 years?

So if I have earned experience 1 year before, it won't be counted?

Project management experience dating back at least three years from application submittal date.
This statement may be slightly confusing, read it like this. It simply means 3 years PM experience. :)

Project management experience not dating back further than eight years from the application submittal date.
PMI would not accept those project management experience that you show are 8 years older from the day of submitting the application.

Yes you may be right about the first part because I haven't heard it before. And I was astonished to read it as to why would PMI reject someone because he gained experience during the last 3 years!?

Throw those mis-leaded communications out of your ears. Your PM experience is absolutely valid and would be considered by PMI for PMP exam.

Just go by the 2 rules I explained and don’t worry what this world says.
